Welcome to our 2024 Progressive Dinner!

Welcome to our first event of the year! The Annual MWSS Progressive Dinner- This year's theme is   "Shamrock Soiree- Find your Pot of Gold"
WHAT IS THE PROGRESSIVE DINNER?

The Progressive Dinner is an event that's intended to get people out of their houses in the dead of winter/early spring to breath fresh air into our lives! Winter is such a dreary time that we try to get people out of their houses for a fun night of socialization and networking! Generally, the event consists of a Happy Hour at a local establishment, This year’s location is Fabled Table, where everyone gets together to mingle, have a few cocktails, and we do a few announcements. Then, you are assigned to a specific house for dinner & Desserts, which you would travel to from the HH. ... and then the night continues on from there whichever you choose to happen!

It's a wonderful professional networking event where you can meet so many people from all over and make connections and new friends, as well as experiencing the beautiful homes of The Mexican War Streets! We specifically group people who do not know each other to spark conversations! Please encourage your friends to attend with you! BYOB is also encouraged if you have a different preference in libations; typically we provide wine for each dinner house.

Disclaimer: whichever house you are assigned to- you are responsible for purchasing and preparing the specific dish(s) your group assigns you. You could be assigned to a side dish, entree dish, or other and are responsible for providing said dish to pass around that accommodates adequately the # of people assigned to that house.

There is a general admission ticket fee to attend the event (that helps cover the costs of putting on the event) + the expense of preparing your dish for your assigned house, for this event.

Annual Holiday Potluck Party!
Welcome back our Traditional Holiday Party! Please join us on Sunday December 10th at the Historic Day House, located at 512 West North Ave, for our last General Membership Meeting of the Year and a joyous holiday party! The party starts at 5:00pm and entry to the event is $20.00 (which is your MWSS Membership fee for the 2024 year). Feel free to pay in advance or pay at the door!

Traditionally this party has been a potluck style event, in addition to your entry fee, please bring a dish to pass, or dessert, or something else to share! Mains will be provided by the MWSS, but we love to share dishes amongst our neighbors.

We also ask that you bring a donation for the Northside Food Pantry. This year, their priority needs are:

Baking Soda

Toothpaste

Brownie Mix

Chicken Noodle Soup

Wine and beer will also be provide by the MWSS.

Our meeting will be held in the basement of the UU Church located at the corner of Resaca & West North Avenue from 7pm - 8:30pm.

The Mexican War Streets Society continues to build upon its mission of preserving and promoting the historic significance of our neighborhood.  Each year we uphold our rich tradition of producing the most established House and Garden Tour in the city of Pittsburgh.

We are proud to announce that our 51st Annual House and Garden Tour will take place on Sunday, September 17, 2023 from 11 am – 5 pm, and will present beautifully restored homes, as well as private and community gardens.

Our tour is never cancelled and always goes on—rain or shine! Tickets are $30 per person and will be sold ONLINE ONLY.

Please note: There will be no tickets sold at the door on tour day.
All tickets will be picked up at our Will-Call Booth located at:

on the day of the event. We do not mail any tickets nor do you have to print any tickets at home to attentd. All tickets will be picked up at our headquarters booth on the day of the event.

Timeframe- 11am - 5:00pm (Usually takes about 3 hours to visit all houses).

This event is Rain or Shine, no cancellations and no refunds available if it rains.

Guided or Self-Guided? - This tour is a Self-Guided Tour. You will pick up your tickets at our Welcome Booth located at 604 West North Avenue at the Inn on The Mexican War Streets (which is Stop #1). Your tour booklet includes a map of each house on tour, labeled by number, amongst other points of interests in the neighborhood.

Parking- Parking is any available street parking in the neighborhood + surrounding areas. There will be 3 parking lots available to park in, on a First Come First Serve basis:

Parking Lot #1- Corner of Brighton Road & Jacksonia Street (across from Rite Aid/Dollar Tree)

Parking Lot #2- Sherman Ave Parking Lot (1201 Sherman Ave). Entrance is located between Wolfrum Street & Greeves Way

Parking Lot #3: Church Parking Lot (1204 Buena Vista Street)

Restrooms: Restrooms will be located across the street From Mechanic’s Retreat Garden at the corner of Buena Vista Street & Jacksonia Street where vendors will be set up.
